Piercings: you either love them or hate them. I personally love them – albeit not the pain that comes with them. As much as I’d hate to admit it to her – it’s my sister who has always been my biggest inspiration for piercings. Whilst I was growing up I’d see her ears fill up with metal and hoops which I thought looked so cool. She also had her belly button and tongue done at one point. Admittedly I don’t think that I would get either of those done due to the practicality and pain involved – I’m more of a head piercing person.
I can’t precisely remember when I got my first piercings done (I was in year 5 or 6) but I know I felt so cool when I had them done – two shiny studs, one on each earlobe. I felt so badass. Then many, many moons went by before piercings became my “thing”.

My Mum isn’t a huge fan of piercings and tattoos, so it wasn’t until I moved out of for the first time until I got more done – I was about 18. It was a steady transition and I decided I wanted my seconds done (the two above the usual earlobe area). It was around this time I found the joys of Pinterest which made me crave piercings more and more.
A few months after this I moved to good ol’ Sheffield to start a new uni course. I was there for a month or two when I decided to get a piercing that I had longed for – my nostril. I had wanted this piercing throughout my teens, I felt like my nose would suit it. One day I just thought new the time was right. So I found myself a trusty looking tattoo/piercing studio and had a needle stabbed into my nose.

This piercing soon became my favourite, I loved it. Then alcohol happened and one drunken night it fell out and healed up. I was devastated. I couldn’t find the jewellery and the hole vanished. I had to go back and have it redone, I couldn’t be without it. I think the piercing lady took pity on me and did it for free. I’ve had that piercing for about 2 years now so I don’t think it’s going anywhere.
A year or so after this I was sat looking through Pinterest, bored outta ma tree, and decided to get my septum done. I used to hate this piercing cos I associated it with an old boyfriends ex, but done right they actually look pretty nice. Off I went once again. More metal in my face. It hurt much less than expected, it was like a sharp sneeze. I must have pulled such a derpy face. When I first had a hoop in it I tried to eat a (vegan) chocolate cupcake I had made… bad idea. The hoop just got covered in a gloop of chocolate mess. Lovely. My septum is my favourite piercing.

In the Spring I then got a bunch done on my left ear, I got three done at once:

–Tragus (weird sticky out bit)
–Helix (curly top bit of ear)
–Thirds (just above seconds, which is above firsts!)
Tragus didn’t hurt nearly as much as I thought it would, but then again I did smother my ear in numbing cream (I’m a wimp). The other two hurt quite a bit. They were a bit of a nuisance to clean but they healed up fairly well. Apart from lobes. I seem to have an issue with lobe healing. They are fine now and I love how shiny my ear is.
I then switched it up a bit and decided to do the other ear. I got my conch done (the middle space) and my forward facing helix. I absolutely love these as the conch was sort

of an impulse and I have plans for my forward facing helix. I’m hoping to get a triple forward facing helix cos it looks mint. My sister is also trying to do this, we are in a strange piercing race. We are far too alike sometimes.
My last trip for piercings was also a bit unknown, I knew I wanted these piercings, I’d had the craving for weeks, but I wasn’t sure what order to get them in – I only get 2 or 3 done at a time. In the end I decided to get my fourth and my rook done. The fourth wasn’t so bad so I was feeling pretty hopeful. Nope, the rook was yet to come and this goes through a thick bit of cartilage. The pain. Probably my worst for pain yet, yet I pulled through and tootled to work with a bright red ear. Absolutely in love with the rook though and it’s healed quite nicely.

That’s it so far. Most of these pics are B&W due to the fact my ears were outrageously red. I’ve got the piercing craves yet again though, so once my lobes have healed properly, there’ll be more…
